Olso-based firm Reidulf Ramstad Architects designed the 'V Lodge,' 120-square-meter cabin located among the mountains above Al in Buskerud county.
The title of the pine-clad family home comes from the two-prong layout of its interior, which divides its social and private spaces. Specially designed to follow the site's naturally topography, the home's living and dining area rests on the perch of the hill, while the bedrooms are located along the sloping volume.
The architects explain, "The cabin is gently placed on the slight slope of the site, where the volume creates small microclimate zones with beneficial sun conditions for outdoor activities and easy access from the interior." The form of the V Lodge is also meant to complement Norwegian building traditions, the home's materials its forested surroundings.
