It's said that there are no more original ideas out in the world and yet stumbling upon the work of Uttaporn Nimmalaikaew might refute that idea. At least, for someone not necessarily well-versed in the art industry. Yet it's hard to deny that his series of painted portraits are not unique on some level.
In place of more traditional white canvas, Uttaporn Nimmalaikaew paints on layers of netting and tulle to create three dimensional portraits of people that look more like ghostly representations than anything else. This is Colossal writes, "Nimmalaikaew first discovered the technique while a student at Silpakorn University in Bangkok after a stray speck of paint landed on a mosquito net in his studio. Witnessing the dimensionality the surface afforded the paint, he began to explore new ways in which to paint on the utilitarian material."
