The 'Tilt' Series Portrays a Skewed Vision of New York City

It takes something of a slanted view of the world to make a name for yourself in the competitive field of urban photography.

Photographer Romain Laurent took that idea rather literally in their 'Tilt' series of urban photography. The images portray the subjects on various New York streets from a slanted perspective. The clever part comes in that the people appear to be standing upright, yet slanted in the shots. The incredible effect was actually achieved with a photo assistant holding the subjects in the perfect slant to appear perpendicular to the angle of the shot. The assistant was then convincingly removed from the frame in post production through photoshop.

In the most literal sense, the Tilt series goes to show that artistic originality is just a matter of perspective.
