Because most people have cell phones nowadays, phone booths lack purpose and use; however, an artist solved this problem by transforming them into unusual fish tanks. Benedetto Bufalino took the old and unused booths and created a piece of interactive art, that not only serves to entertain and intrigue the public but acts as a communal gathering spot as well.
Adding some nature to these urban areas, the glass booth contains water, goldfish and even some plants -- creating a complete environment inside the old communications box. The unusual fish tanks have gone on a cross-Europe tour, gaining popularity with locals and tourists in every stop it made. By converting an unused object into something of visual interest, Benedetto Bufalino showcases the role that art can play in recycling.
