This cozy UCLA residence has a unique hillside location that maximizes every bit of its prime locale. The interior is designed as a faculty and student residence with communal lounge spaces, work spaces and fitness rooms. The structure is outlined by terraces that provide ample green space for residents, with open air corridors connecting the indoors to the outdoors.
The architectural team allowed each of the 31 units to take advantage of wind-crossed ventilation providing cool air for all of the structure's rooms. Bold green cement on the exterior give the building a strong personality and presence on the busy road it is situated on. The oddly shaped building sits wedged between two streets, but architects have been able to seamlessly incorporate the residence with its surroundings.
