Barn-Like Building Extensions

'Arne Garborg' was Completed by TYIN Tegnestue Architects in Norway

TYIN Tegnestue Architects have completed the 'Arne Garborg' residence in Norway, which was an extension to the existing house.

People in the area are on both sides as to whether or not they approve of the addition. It's quite different than most add-ons, and even resembles a barn-like structure. The outside is made of pine, and not only does it extend the house horizontally, but vertically too in a wrap-around manner. Lines are not left perfectly straight either, with certain areas set in a sloping direction. While this may not be a conventional add-on, it definitely gives the single family who lives here everything that they were missing. Because the structure is that much taller, they now have an additional loft-style bedroom at the top of the abode, which is perfect for guests. Photo Credits: designboom, tyinarchitects
