Skylar's True Love's Cake Turns a Unique Story into a Universal Scent

True Love's Cake is the newest creation by Skylar and the third from Chief Creative Officer and Skylar Refounder Leah Kateb, and it bottles a romantic, nostalgic notion. "They say if you bake a Persian Love Cake for someone, they'll fall in love with you. I wanted to capture that same sweetness and magic in a fragrance you can wear: magnetic, enchanting, and obviously romantic. May it bring all the love into your world," said Kateb.

Touted as a romantic gourmand that differentiates itself from all other Skylar releases, True Love's Cake makes a memorable first impression with rosewater, plum nectar, and cardamom pod before leading into notes of orange blossom honey, damask rose, and cherry blossom, and finally, a warm, fresh-baked drydown with traces of almond cake, caramelized pistachio, and sandalwood.

Trend Themes

  1. Romantic Gourmand Fragrances — Dessert-inspired scent profiles with floral and spicy notes are expanding perfumery into emotionally charged experiences that feel indulgent, wearable, and story-rich.
  2. Cultural Scent Storytelling — Personal heritage and folklore are becoming powerful fragrance foundations, creating space for perfumes that translate specific rituals into broadly resonant consumer products.
  3. Nostalgic Sensory Luxury — Memory-driven notes such as cake, honey, rosewater, and warm woods are reshaping premium fragrance as consumers seek comfort, romance, and escapism in everyday routines.

Industry Implications

  1. Fragrance — Artisanal note combinations and narrative-led launches are challenging traditional scent families by blending gourmand, floral, and cultural references into distinctive signature perfumes.
  2. Beauty — Emotionally positioned products are influencing beauty portfolios as consumers gravitate toward items that combine self-expression, sensory pleasure, and intimate storytelling.
  3. Food and Beverage — Culinary traditions and dessert ingredients are crossing into adjacent lifestyle categories, highlighting new value for flavors, rituals, and recipe-based heritage beyond consumption.
