Edmonton's International Airport Uses Dogs to Soothe Weary Travelers

No matter how organized you are, travel can quickly turn stressful when something unexpected comes your way—so in order to ease tension as much as possible for its passengers, Edmonton International Airport is employing an unusual form of travel therapy.

In partnership with the Pet Therapy Society of Northern Alberta, the airport is helping to cut down on anxiety and tension with the help of a few furry friends. Volunteers wander the airports with dogs three times a week, helping to quell nerves, remind people of their own pets left at home and fill moments of boredom with playtime instead. After interacting with one of the Pet Therapy Society dogs in the Edmonton International Airport, traveler Helene Guillemette notes: "My spirits are up for sure. It just brings me happiness."
