Race-Mimicking Apps

You Can Pretend to be a Car With the Toyota 'I am 86' Game

Toyota is promoting its 2012 '86' sports car and it has launched an interactive app -- the Toyota 'I am 86' game -- to get consumers excited.

When you download the free Toyota 'I am 86' game, you get the chance to experience the Toyota 86 but in the comfort of...well, your own body. The 'I am 86' game lets players pretend they are cars, "racing" around while the game provides accompanying elements like honking and lights to make you feel as if you're actually driving. To play, you just run -- "race" -- around, while using the app to honk your horn, drift around corners and flash your lights. The whole race can be recorded via your phone's camera, which will show you a view of the race as if you're looking out through a windshield. If you think your race has gone particularly well, then you can upload your recorded video onto the game's scoreboard.
