Protective Motorcyclist Turbans

The 'Tough Turban' Enhances Safety and Supports Tradition

The 'Tough Turban' is a protective headgear design for motorcyclists that would work to enhance safety on the road, while also supporting the rider's cultural and religious traditions.

The turban looks and functions like a traditional fabric one, but hides advanced materials inside like a 3D-printed chainlink layer, a Dyneema layer and a non-Newtonian foam. These design aspects combine to help Sikh riders to enjoy enhanced safety and practice their tradition of wearing a turban all at the same time. The turban features an expanded design when opened to allow the wearer to position it in a number of ways for enhanced customization.

The 'Tough Turban' was designed by Zulu Alpha Kilo and Spark Innovations for Pfaff Harley-Davidson in collaboration with the Sikh Motorcycle Club of Ontario.
