Tonya Corkey Reconstructs Faces Using Dryer Lint

Artist Tonya Corkey creatively plays with dryer lint in her latest series of black and white portraits. The portraits are incredibly realistic and constructed entirely using fluffy lint balls.

Corkey cleverly makes use of the unwanted pelts of fabric most dryers collect over time by using it as the primary art material in reconstructing the portraits featured in the series 'See You in the Future.' The series features a collection of vintage images of people's faces replicated using different shades of dryer lint. Darker lint is used to replicate black shading and white lint is used to replicate lighter parts of the image. Some of Corkey's portraits are highly abstract as she hyper-infuses three faces into one. All of the portraits are 3D and super soft to the touch.
