Tommy Perez Makes a Food Alphabet to Teach His Daughter the ABC's

Graphic designer and illustrator Tommy Perez recreates the ABC's using popular food items in a creative attempt to teach his daughter the alphabet. The idea was that if his two-year-old daughter could remember the types of food the letters were made out of, she'd have a better chance at remembering how to recite the alphabet.

For Perez, the alphabet is something he interacts with on a day-to-day basis. Designing posters and fonts is part of Perez's day job so when it came time for Perez to help his daughter learn the alphabet it only made sense to use typography as a learning method. Moving from letter 'A' all the way to letter 'Z,' Perez paired up popular food items to its corresponding letters to create these fun edible ABC's. For example, the letter 'K' is spelt out using kale leaves and the letter 'G' is spelled out using granola.
