The TOFU chair by Leonardo Talarico was shown at the FOODMADE exhibition during Milan's Design Week 2013. As suggested by the name of the object and the exhibition, the chair is made entirely of tofu. Talarico was one of 17 designers invited to make a creation using food as the raw material. TOFU is made up of several rectangular slices of tofu that have been dehydrated and temperature-treated to be suitable for use as a structural material.
Although the chair hardly looks appetizing or comfortable, the designer has generated a lot of interest in his creation. Yatzer has highlighted this chair as one of the 'Best of Milan Design Week 2013,' and Talarico was recently named one of 15 talented Italians under the age of 35.
