Abandoned Historical Photography

The Timothy Allen 'Forget Your Past' Series is Daunting

In the depths of the winterized landscapes of Bulgaria, the Timothy Allen 'Forget Your Past' Series is a breathtaking display of historical monuments. Timothy Allen took many of his photos for this series on a long trek from Buzludzha to Sofia during an enormous snow storm. Taking photos of abandoned buildings during the communist era is what drove Allen to the nth degree.

The beauty of the landscape mixed with the architecture of the buildings blend seamlessly together. The idea behind the series focuses on forgotten historical buildings, landscapes and monuments. The abandoned building was designed by Guéorguy Stoilov and is left lifeless until July of each each when 40,000 people go to support the creation of the Bulgarian Social-Democratic Party.
