Of all the Times Square billboards that compete for attention, sometimes bigger really is better. Google recently installed an impossible-to-miss billboard ad on Broadway, which spans an entire block. The massive ad is powered by a Mitsubishi Electric display and has a 4K display resolution that comes from 15 million individual pixels. As for what's being displayed on the billboard, Google is using it to host a playable Android game where members of the public can customize their own 'Androidify' characters by dressing them up, and then get the custom Android characters printed on postcards and t-shirts as souvenirs on site.
In the future, as well as using this gigantic ad space to promote its own products, Google will be donating space to non-profit organizations like Charity Water and WWF.
