Tile-Like Illuminators

A Tile Lighting Collection Channels the Glossy Ceramic of Portuguese Walls

Designers have discovered quite a bit of freedom in lighting design, and in this case, this tile lighting collection is evidence of inspiration coming from architecture. Exporlux of Portugal experimented with the aesthetic of lustrous, glazed ceramics that you see on the walls and floors of buildings throughout the country, and they worked to adapt this familiar element for a new purpose.

Winning them a Red Dot Design Award, Exporlux achieved a lovely lacquered surface in its set of modular square-shaped lamps. Available in black and white, the tile lighting is arranged into a horizontally oriented pendant lamp, called Horizon, individual wall scones called Level, and the tall, stacked floor lamp known as Tower. They harken to tradition, yet these light fixtures truly embody a modern minimalist aesthetic as well.
