Lenovo's Latest Hybrid Laptop Combines Windows and Android in One

The 'Thinkbook Plus Gen 5 Hybrid' from Lenovo is one of the most interesting computation devices showcased at CES 2024. This is a hybrid laptop that combines both the Android and Windows operating systems seamlessly into one device. The laptop itself mechanically functions similarly to hybrid tablets such as the Microsoft Surface Go, but the internal components of this Thinkbook are more interesting.

This laptop comes in two pieces, one being just a screen while the other is a sturdy keyboard that attaches to the bottom of the screen. The keyboard is not just a keyboard, though, as it houses the Windows x86 components, namely up to an Intel Core Ultra, 32GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD. The screen half, on the other hand, is equipped with ARM components, presently including the SD 8+ Gen 1 processor and up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of flash storage.

When the tablet is used on its own, it will boot into Android and function similarly to a large, fast Android tablet. However when the keyboard is attached and the device is put into laptop mode, it will boot into a fully functional and native Windows 11 environment.
