Animated Toy Histories

The LEGO Story Film Tells the Brand's Background & Path to Success

In celebration of its 80th birthday this year, LEGO has created a cute animated history called The LEGO Story, which uncovers just how the toy brick company beloved by generations the world over came to be.

The animated video (which is 17 minutes long!) tells the story of the Danish toymaker Ole Kirk Christiansen and his son, Gottfried, who together built the LEGO company. The brand started out as a maker of wooden toys, but it later became the toy brick maker we all know and love today after Ole discovered a brick molding tool in Copenhagen and Gottfried was inspired by a conversation about 'systems' with another businessman.

Today, LEGO is the third largest producer of play products in the world and brings joy to people in over 130 countries. Watch The LEGO Story film here to see how it all began!
