Contemporary Canyon Retreats

The Jackson House is a Luxe and Modern Vacation Home in Big Sur

California-based Fougeron Architects created the Jackson House, a modern home made of copper, concrete, timber and glass.

Located in beautiful Big Sur, the home is placed right on the base of a canyon built on a foundation of stilts giving it the appearance of hovering. The structure is made up of four main spaces, each clad in a different material. With an oversized butterfly roof on top, the home has multiple covered terraces to maximize outdoor living. The private bedrooms and luxurious bathrooms are set aside from the rest of the open floor plan that was left open for communal living.

The main living room of the Jackson House features large windows that offer a unique view of the surrounding canyon.
