The Iris app bills itself as a modern day emergency alert. That's because it is designed to tell friends and loved ones when you're in the hospital. It can tell doctors your critical medical info, including blood type and allergies. The Iris app does this using a combination of location tracking and user-entered information. The app can tell when you've entered a hospital, and if you stay there for more than 10 minutes it'll ask if you're alright.
Should you not respond the app will send a message to the emergency contacts you listed in your profile. In addition to doing this the Iris app will also display your medical information on the lock screen of your phone. Again, this information is sourced from the user; the app doesn't access any health records. The Iris app just launched and is available for free on iOS devices.
