Gender Equality-Promoting Campaigns

The Chime for Change Project Tackles Gender Divide Issues

Gucci recently launched the Chime for Change campaign as its latest efforts to fight against the issue of gender divide and promote equality. The campaign works alongside six different organizations across the globe including 'Global Fund for Women,' 'Equality Now,' 'Ms. Foundation for Women,' 'UN Women,' 'Women Deliver,' and 'Vital Voices.' The campaign also received a vast amount of support from platforms such as the 'Kering Foundation,' the 'Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation,' 'Facebook,' and 'Hearst Magazines.'

The original Chime for Change initiative first launches back in 2013 and became an annual tradition -- this year, Alessandro Michele taps Italian street artist MP5 to create a theme entitled 'To Gather Together.' Together, the duo creates murals that adorn the streets of Hong Kong, Milan, Taiwan, New York, and London, contributing to the house's 'ArtWalls' project. The murals feature genderless people standing together in black and white to reference the theme and signature aesthetics of MP5.

In addition to the public works, the label also launched its first 'Chime' zine, which highlight voices from all over the world combating gender inequality. It is now available online at Gucci and in-store at New York's Gucci Wooster Bookstore and Florence's Gucci Garden.
