This summer, the UK broke temperature records and with people in need of relief from the blistering heat, Suntory vodka soda brand Minus 196 brought The Chiller Room to London. This temperature-controlled pop-up bar on Clapham Common was created in response to new research commissioned by the brand, which polled 2,000 adults to find that 52% say they would choose to be permanently chilly rather than hot, because they don't want to feel sweaty or irritable when the weather is warmer.
Inside The Chiller Room, visitors were treated to an experience tailor-made for comfort and refreshment, and the chance to beat the heat while sipping Minus 196 in Peach, Lemon or Grapefruit varieties. Beyond expressly targeting Gen Z and Millennial drinkers, the activation told the story of Suntory’s Freeze Crush Technology, which involves freezing whole fruit at -196°C, then crushing and infusing it with shochu, vodka and soda.
