Storm-Chasing Photographers

Nick Moir is Obsessed with Wild Weather and His Work Proves It

These terrific storm photos were taken by Australian storm chaser and photographer Nick Moir. Moir is obsessed with wild weather. Capturing the drama of the environmental phenomena of Australia is his passion. From sand-blasting dust storms and dazzling lighting to blackening bush fires and the perceptible effects of climate change in the Australian nature.

"For us photographers, day to day it's all very much about photographing people doing things. But every now and again the planet reminds us who's really in control," says Moir. Moir is one of the several hundred storm chasers in Australia's Eastern States who drive around the continent to capture the most beautiful images. In 2003, Moir won a World Press Photo award for a photo series of the 2002/2003 bushfire season.
