Translucent Tennis Pavilions

Lemoal Lemoal Architectes Builds a Half-Timbered Pavilion

Lemoal Lemoal Architectes designs an elongated, translucent tennis pavilion with timber accents for the Garden Tennis Club of Cabourg. The construction project is intended to answer functional needs for the sports institution. Containing space for changing facilities and toilets, the tennis pavilion is also eye-captivating as it draws inspiration from "the traditional half-timbered buildings found in Normandy."

Lemoal Lemoal Architectes' tennis pavilion stands out with its exposed beams. The Parisian studio used "a double skin of translucent polycarbonate" which delivers a nice light-diffusing effect to the structure. The space is split into two and has two separate entrances—one section for men and one section for women. The interior is all-white.

In general, the tennis pavilion is rather minimalist and is built with locally sourced materials.
