Although the Turkish company Karsan was a close second in New York City's Taxi of Tomorrow competition, Nissan takes the gold. With an all-electric engine and stylish interior, this is what transportation looks like for the future.
The design comes equipped with a glass roof, interior floor lighting, a movable entry step and passenger-controlled climate controls. The prestigious Taxi of Tomorrow award comes with a ten year contract for Nissan to provide 13,000 taxis for the city of New York and the vehicles are expected for release in 2014. Apparently, the Nissan is a slight culture shock for Americans who are used to Sedans. After glancing through these futuristic designs, the Nissan taxi is bound to impress even the most skeptical New Yorker.
