Tato Architects Create an Exceptional Home That "Loosely Connects & Disconnects"

Tato Architects builds a striking house in Osaka, Japan that is three-stories tall but also contains 16 levels that are set on a "series of triangular and rectangular platforms."

There are actually no staircases inside the home and instead, Tato Architects connect the different levels with wooden blocks, shelves and other pieces of furniture, on which residents can walk on to reach another level of the house. For example, the dining table in the kitchen is the gateway to the next level.

The layout is rather poetic and successful in dividing the abode based on the respective functions of each level. Through this aesthetic experience, residents "would find [themselves] on top of a rooftop in one moment, and tucked beneath a floor in another."
