On-Officer Recording Systems

Taser 'Axon' and Evidence.com Will Revolutionize "COPS"

Taser International's Axon and Evidence.com on-officer recording systems are meant to capture and store police footage without the possibility of it being tampered with.

The first component is the Taser Axon, a recording device that's worn similar to a pair of behind-the-head headphones. Officers who wear the camera agree to have their movements recorded. Next, the captured footage is ferreted away to Evidence.com servers, which are managed by an exterior source. Sensors can detect if data has been tampered with.

The Taser Axon and Evidence.com on-officer recording system should be ready to roll out by the third quarter of 2009. I'm hoping this will coincide with a formatting change for "COPS."
