The Taoshouse's Energy Needs are Met By a Solar Array

Taoshouse is an innovative eco-friendly home, located in New Mexico in the US, that is capable of operating entirely from energy generated by nine 230 Watt solar panels. The house is also equipped with a wide variety of special design features that help minimize its power usage and maximize efficiency.

The Taoshouse's internal area covers 152 square meters, while the house covers a total area of 267 square meters. It is capable of harnessing electricity from the grid if need be and feed back surplus energy back into the grid.

Over a period of ten months, the Taoshouse has used 3,100 Kilowatt-hours while generating 2,800 Kilowatt-hours. However, energy use is expected to reduce over time once moisture in the building materials fully dries out.
