The Talk to Spotify feature was introduced as an AI-powered assistant that lets Premium subscribers control music playback and discover content using voice or text commands. Accessible from the Home and Now Playing screens, the tool supports conversational requests to create playlists, refine recommendations, save songs, add tracks to the queue, and follow artists without leaving the app. Users can also ask the assistant to explain albums, identify music genres, and provide information about artists, podcasts, and audiobooks while listening.
The assistant can answer questions about personal listening habits, including when a song was first played and which genres have been listened to most recently. Commands can be entered by speaking through the microphone or typing directly into the search interface. The beta rollout is available to Spotify Premium users aged 18 and older on iOS and Android devices in English across the United States, Ireland, and Sweden.
