When we look at graffiti on the streets or in the subway halls as we walk through, we never see the taggers who are behind the artwork. Rick Bucknall changes this with his photo shoot 'Taggers' where he photographs the people behind the street art within Melbourne, Australia.
The photos are captured in high contrast and are mainly all black and white. The only time the photos are in color is to highlight the beautifully bold street artwork in the background. The interesting part about this project is that the street artists are young adults tagging in a group. There are girls and boys and they all have masks on to protect themselves from the fumes.
As an artist, Bucknall travels to the underground in order to capture the faces behind the artwork we might see every day. The taggers are now known by face instead of solely by their art on the walls, essentially they have become tagged themselves.
