Designed by French firm Fritsch-Durisotti, this stand-up scooter employs bamboo in its frame, an increasingly common element due to the plant's natural pliability and strength. The bike's natural chassis is complemented by steel bearings and chains, a pair of rubber wheels, a cork seat and -- best of all -- a hidden electric motor in the footrest. It may look puny, but the engine can reach speeds of 21.7mph and cruise for approximately 24.8 miles. The French firm explains that this prototype vehicle will help the company "investigate themes exploring changing behaviors related to sustainable development."
