The Synchronising Threads and Rhizome Installation Centers Around a Dress

The Synchronising Threads and Rhizome art exhibit appears to suspend time in a spider's web. Caught amidst a mess of black thread, a wedding gown appears to float in midair. Although the imagery may refer to time, the installation also focuses on connections between objects. A written on Casa Asia, "[H]undreds of invisible threads that bond us to things can be seen. In these domestic scenarios she proposes, threads become bridges between a bride's dress and the absent subject, a piano, suitcases and a mirror."

Created by Berlin-based artist Chiharu Shiota, the Synchronising Threads and Rhizome art exhibit is similar to her past installations including Breath of the Spirit. Often commenting on the concepts of life and death, this art installation is no exception.
