Sustainable Unisex Trainers

Norm's 1L11 Sneaker Features a Reduced Carbon Footprint

Belgian brand Norm has manufactured a pair of sustainable unisex trainers that are not only supportive but also eco-friendly. The company seeks to "change the 'nonsense' manufacturing process of a standard pair of shoes." By using exclusively recycled materials for the silhouette and its packaging, as well as cutting back on transportation, Norm is able to create a model that uses 80 percent less carbon than its non-green competitors.

The sustainable unisex trainer is dubbed '1L11.' It comes in five colorways, including navy, red, black, white, and khaki green. The shoe is available exclusively in Europe. The upper is 3D-knitted and Norm used yarn from recycled plastic bottles to make it. The brand also used one continuous piece for each pair to cut down on the need to cut and stitch separate pieces together.
