The Superhero Cyborgs Workshops Let Kids Build Their Own Prosthetics

'Superhero Cyborgs' is a new workshop that allows children with disabilities and those without to design new prosthetics. While many prosthetics are made with a one-size-fits-all approach in mind, a group of young children is looking at ways to promote customization.

Superhero Cyborgs is a kid-friendly workshop organized by the Bay Area organization 'KIDmob.' At each of these workshops, children are encouraged to come up with customized solutions to meet the needs of kids in the area. During the workshops, children with and without disabilities work on building wearable devices that can serve as "a potential alternative to their upper limb prosthetics." The kids are aided by professional designers and engineers who teach them about everything from digital fabrication to 3D printing.

The workshops demonstrate a unique way to teach children hands-on skills while also brainstorming solutions to real world problems.
