Mike Olbinski's Time-Lapse of a Supercell Storm is Otherworldly

A supercell storm recently hit an area near Booker, Texas, USA and professional photographer and storm chaser Mike Olbinski was there to capture it all. Using a Canon 5D Mark II and Rokinon 14mm 2.8 lens, Olbinski and his partner, Andy Hoeland, managed to create a time-lapse video showing the storm's rotation.

The video shows the storm as it begins to blot out the sun with its darkened clouds. However, the sun continues to poke through as the storm forms a completely symmetrical circle, turning at a constant rate. The effect of the sun shining from behind the dark storm is one of otherworldliness, almost impossible beauty.

This video is a wonderfully eloquent example of how nature, in its purest form, can become art. Without altering the storm's appearance or adding special effects into the film, this supercell storm is still one of the most beautiful and magnificent events ever caught on tape.
