Eco-Friendly Woven Installations

Super Nature Design Wraps Wild Animals to Send Out a Message

In a world of high consumerism, design studio Super Nature Design decided to use art to raise awareness about the environment and people's consuming habits. Entitled Weaving Forest, this installation consists of two large, wooden reindeer to be wound in yarn by viewers.

Each visitor is asked to wrap a thread around the structure until it's all covered in wool. The purpose of this piece is to illustrate how each person's action has a direct effect in nature and the environment. Additionally, by creating an interactive installation, the artists hope to create a greater impact on audiences.

Weaving Forest by Super Nature Design was exhibited for the first time in a Hong Kong's festival Detour, 2011. The Shanghai-based studio specializes in "interactive design, visual communication & media technology."
