I've never teared up while writing a trend until I came upon this video of Sung Bong Choi competing on Korea's Got Talent. Maybe it's because of his unassuming appearance and timid demeanor. Maybe it's his nervousness when being interviewed by camera crews. It may also be the fact that he doesn't think he's a good singer at all and only wishes for a more normal existence. But I think what ultimately makes me sympathize with this incredible man is that he was orphaned at 3 years old, left an abusive household by 5, lived on his own by selling gum and energy drinks and relegated that overwhelmingly harsh experience to having "lived in very difficult circumstances." Singing was the only thing that kept Sung Bong Choi going during these unfathomable times and he's an amazing talent to boot.
Forget Susan Boyle, Sung Bong Choi's story is the one you need to watch if you're having a horrible day and need that inspiration boost to go on.
