Akris' Spring Collection Channels a Summer Safari with Natural Imagery

The looks from the Akris Spring 2014 RTW collection embody a summer safari that's light and breezy. Despite fabrics having an effortless, fluid quality to them, Albert Kriemler of Akris drew inspiration from a variety of natural forms that bear significant weight, including rocks, algae, granite and sand honeycombs.

The collection is described as "A dream of fabrics and nature—moved forward through technology," which is demonstrated by printing images from nature in a large scale on a variety of airy fabrics like cotton and chiffon. Although Akris has become known for its use of photorealistic prints, this collection features a more abstract take on imagery. Aside from the prints, textures the collection were also reminiscent of natural elements, such as strands of fabric that mimicked the look of stringy green algae.
