To accompany the announcement of its new Surface Studio all-in-one PC, Microsoft has released a peripheral piece of equipment called the Surface Dial. The small, puck-shaped device automatically communicates with the Surface Studio when touching it to offer many different features depending on the app in use.
Though the Surface Dial looks like little more than a stainless steel cylinder on its own, it jumps into action when placed against the Surface Studio. When it makes contact with the screen, the Surface Dial turns into a functional dial. For instance, when users are in the painting app, the Dial summons a series of colors around it, and users can spin it to select the color of their stylus brush from anywhere on the color spectrum.
