The String Table is Held Together by an Extended Red Cord

A piece of cord might not look like much, but the String Table demonstrates how useful such an item can be. You won't find the expected nuts, bolts and glue holding this piece of furniture together, for it is a clever system of notches and a little spanning rope that enable the object to stand steadily.

The Saif Faisal Design Studio appears to have used small planks of MDF to make up the frame and structure of the escritoire, cutting some of the components with slots that enable them to be fitted together snugly. Assembling the String Table with these parts, however, proves not to be sufficient in establishing stability. It isn't until you feed through the kit's red cord that the flat surface is sufficiently secure.
