The Google Street View Underwater Service Marks World Ocean's Day

The Google Street View underwater version is an expanded version of your regular Street View, and was released in an effort to raise awareness for World Ocean's Day. The app allows users to explore an array of gorgeous underwater and coastal locations.

Much like regular Street View, this service allows you to click to move around a particular area, whilst being immersed in imagery drawn for over 40 sites around the world. Locations include the Great Barrier Reef, the Crystal Bay in Bali and the sea turtle-packed Solomon Islands.

The Google Street View underwater version was created by Google in collaboration with the XL Caitlin Seaview Survey and Underwater Earth, with images being captured and compiled over a period of four years. This project is doing a great job placing the oceans in the center of our collective consciousness.
