Curvaceous Flatpack Furniture

The Stratflex Collection by Wintec Boasts a Flexible Polymer Grid

Flatpack furniture is amazing when it comes to shipping and storage, but in terms of form it can be lacking; the Stratflex Collection will change all of that. The recent winner of the 2013 Innovation Award at the Design Indaba Expo, the Stratflex Collection introduces curves to the notoriously flat designs. This is achieved by embedding a grid of flexible polymer into its Finnish plywood surface. This grid also provides flex and cushioning.

Designed by Wintec, the Stratflex Collection shows the promise of more complex shapes by way of two models: Skin and Impi. Produced in the studio's South African factory, the Stratflex Collection is inspired by the work of such traditional mid-century designers as Cherner and Charles and Ray Eames.
