High-Tech Store Checkouts

Tesco Introduces State-of-the-Art Machines to Cut Down Queues

Although many stores have introduced self-checkouts in order to address high traffic volumes and long queues, Tesco's latest store checkout system shows that another approach is much more efficient. In order to increase its customer service, Tesco introduced an innovative and high-tech store checkout that focuses entirely on the structure of the conveyor belt.

The store checkout's conveyor belt has been sectioned into three packing areas to allow multiple customers to pack at the same time. A spokesperson says, "Customers can feel pressurized when they have customers behind them at the checkouts. This is about making it a more relaxed experience." The same Tesco store also introduced click and collect services that allow customers to purchase online and drive to the store to pick up the items, optimizing the chore even more.
