Homeless Locker Programs

Transitioning Homeless People Can Use This Storage Locker Initiative

This storage locker initiative gives homeless people a place to store their few belongings safely. With an aim of facilitating people out of homelessness, the Solidarity Lockers project was conceived by Portuguese charity Associacao Conversa Amiga. The lockers also provide a way for those sleeping on the streets and those desiring to help them to communicate with each other.

A Lisbon-located team of social workers and psychologists contact the storage locker renter on a regular basis. The lockers can be used to store pocessions, but also written notes, service referral letters and appointment reminders.

The Solidarity Lockers project is a local initiative to solve homelessness. Mobile technology is another far-reaching tool to address this complex issue.
