The Stocking Sculptures by Rosa Verloop Display Personality

Pantyhose can be used for much more than covering up your legs as can be seen from this stocking sculpture. The self-portrait sculpture, entitled 'Me,' was created by Dutch artist Rosa Verloop as a part of an exhibition on the theme 'LOVE' at the Hague Municipal Museum which will run until August 19th.

The sculpture is made entirely of nylon stockings that are folded, squeezed and contorted into place and held together with draw pins. The flesh-like texture and color of the material gives the stocking sculpture an eerily life-like quality that conveys a strong sense of emotion to the viewer. The texture of the work looks similar to clay or plasticine sculptures, and, like these similar mediums, one can see the artist's touch in each pin and pinch that makes up the piece.

Using unconventional materials and a lot of passion, Rosa Verloop has created a stocking sculpture that really strikes a chord with her audience.
