The Stitched Light Craftily Suggests the Archetypal Form of a Lampshade

Close your eyes and picture the typical floor or table lamp. What image comes to mind? Does it have some sort of stand and a flaring lampshade? This is the image that the Stitched Light works to imitate, despite the fact that it has only a couple of components in common with this type of illuminator.

Designer Hyeonil Jeong begins with an incandescent lightbulb with a very lengthy twisted cord. A laser-cut walnut board becomes a necessary frame and features plenty of strategically laid out drill holes through which the bright blue cable is threaded. The rope-like wire is plugged into the wall and then enters at the bottom right corner. It's treated as stitching to define the silhouette of a lampshade, doubly outlined by the trapezoidal cutout of the Stitched Light.
