Theater Facade Photography

Stefanie Zoche and Sabine Haubitz Document Vibrant Fronts in India

Photographers Stefanie Zoche and Sabine Haubitz have documented the vibrant facades of theaters in India. The southern part of the country is filled with these theaters, all of which take on a very animated look, and do not hold back on originality when it comes to design.

The colors of the theaters range from a bright red hue to others that are predominantly a neutral beige but have pops of color throughout. The series of photographs have been displayed in Munich, and are titled 'Hybrid Modernism.' Each one makes onlookers feel a certain sense of nostalgia, since so much of the movie-watching experience is now done online with less people going to the theater. This demonstrates that there is still something magical about having a night out at the movies. Photo Credits: designboom, haubitz-zoche.de
