Architect Donald Wexler built seven different experimental steel-framed homes in Palm Springs that all resemble customizable pre-fab houses. First creating a modular frame in a studio in Los Angeles, the team had to completely plan out the design of each house before relocating them to Palm Springs.
The steel frames were made up of leftover steel from classrooms and large residences around the area and were used instead of wood because of price and ability to withstand harsher weather. Each house has a different roof style -- some flat and some curved, making each unique in it's own way. These steel-framed homes by Donald Wexler stand out from the surrounding architecture.
