Environmentally Focused Ski Resorts

Squaw Valley Is Aiming to Run on 100 Percent Renewable Energy

Internationally acclaimed ski resort Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows has entered a dynamic partnership to make its services 100 percent clean. The goal is to convert to renewable energy sources by December 18 and is being completed with Liberty Utilities. The shift towards renewable energy will be a drastic one, but none of these changes are set to effect operation at Squaw Valley. A representative from the resort has stated that the change is part of the brand's constant drive to reduce its carbon footprint and is representative of the resort's values.

To implement this new sustainable energy venture, Liberty Utilities has built a 50-megawatt solar array in Luning, Nevada which will also be complimented bu the existing 10-megawatt Turquoise solar facility in Reno. Squaw Valley is already powered by a minimum of 25 percent renewable energy and these new initiatives with Liberty Utilities will bridge the 75 percent gap.
