The Squares Desk Displays Unusual Accents of Rough Cuts of Stone

There is a spec of functionality to be found in the eccentric surface treatment of the Squares Desk; however, for the most part, the application of its more curious components is for the purpose of a wacky aesthetic.

This contemporary writing table is made of solid Amarello wood from Brazil, as well as smokey oak. These assemble to form quite a standard-looking piece of furniture. A deep dark finish and a luxurious leather writing pad make the workstation rather refined and beautiful, but obviously there is more to it than that.

Many small cubes of porous marble have been applied to the sides, the legs, the top and the drawers (as knobs) of Olivier Dolle's Squares Desk. These produce a pixelated effect that references the old style of Art Deco and more recent Deconstructivism.
